ITC Becomes an End Point Assessment Organisation

Over the past 12 months, the team at ITC have been working hard on our latest project.  As of 1 January 2023, ITC First is an End Point Assessment Organisation for Apprenticeships.  At present ITC is starting off steadily, with our first apprenticeship standard being the Outdoor Activity Instructor (at Level 3).

This apprenticeship standard is something which several of our team are particularly excited about as they have a history in the outdoor education sector, either being centre managers or being outdoor instructors themselves.  It’s a standard that ITC believes that it has the expertise and experience to provide employers, training providers and apprentices with a credible, purposeful and insightful experience.

The past 12 months have seen the compliance team working to get ITC First on the register of EPAOs as well as the development team working on a suite of documents and resources to allow ITC to hit the ground running in 2023.  Alongside the admin processes, a recruitment exercise for End Point Assessors is underway with an induction and standardisation event planned for February 2023.  ITCs range of prospective assessors so far have an excellent experience and breadth of outdoor learning and activity.  The bonus for ITC is that the majority of assessors are folk we currently regularly work with.

Mark Moore, ITC CEO said ‘this is the next step for ITC to become THE awarding organisation for the outdoors.  This apprenticeship work allows us to use our great network of outdoor education experts and to provide an EPA service which not only meets, but exceeds minimum standards ensuring the most credible assessment process in the sector.’

This is only the start for ITC and the Level 5 outdoor activity apprenticeship is the next standard in our sights.

If you’re reading this, thinking that you might be interested in being an end point assessor, then get in touch with jane@itcfirst.org.uk.  You’ll need an assessing qualification and at least 2 years current experience working in outdoor education/activity.  As an individual you’ll need to be committed, friendly, approachable and able to work on your own (with office support).
