This qualification has been designed to support an individual's entry into the teaching/training industry, and is aimed specifically at those wishing to be employed in the outdoor learning sector. The qualification itself has been developed to meet the national Minimum Core Standards for Teacher Training Qualifications for the Further Education and Skills Sector and to enable the teaching of literacy to be studied. ITC is well-placed in the outdoor learning sector and envisages that this qualification will enable successful candidates to take the delivery of literacy into the outdoors.

Topics include roles and responsibilities, legislation, pedagogical principles, theories, principles and models of teaching. learning, communication and assessment. Specialist topics in literacy are also covered.

Requirements
To undertake this qualification, delivery of a minimum of 100 hours of teaching practice is required, with observation of some of these sessions. Access to groups of learners and real-life teaching practice is therefore required.
