ITC Level 3 Certificate in Safe Working Practice in the Wind Turbine Industry

This qualification has been developed to provide learners with key safety knowledge and skills as well as fundamental technical skills and knowledge to be able to enter the wind turbine industry.  Based on inter/national Global Wind Organisation (GWO) safety standards the qualification includes a comprehensive set of units to give learners a launch pad to commence or continue their journey into the sector. 

The qualifications supports UK government policies for the continued growth of the wind energy sector, net zero carbon and employment in STEM roles

The qualification was developed with support and input from the sector, including the GWO, Stockton Riverside College (ETC.), influential UK-based training organisations and employers. 

The qualification is especially suited to those engaging in a career transition from armed/uniformed services into this growing renewable industry.

Delivery

This qualification is composed of 10 units.

Units include:

  • First Aid in the Wind Turbine Environment

  • Manual Handling in the Wind Turbine Environment

  • Fire Safety Awareness in the Wind Turbine Environment

  • Working at Heights in the Wind Turbine Environment

  • Marine Safety and Sea Survival in the Wind Turbine Environment

  • Working with Mechanical Systems in the Wind Turbine Environment

  • Working with Electrical Systems in the Wind Turbine Environment

  • Working with Hydraulic Systems in the Wind Turbine Environment

  • Enhanced First Aid in the Wind Turbine Environment

  • Advanced Rescue in the Wind Turbine Environment

 Assessment tasks will result in each candidate producing a portfolio of evidence meeting each assessment criteria in each unit.

 

Features

Typical qualification support includes:

  • Attendance at an approved ITC Centre.
  • Aligned to and underpinned by inter/national competence standards; GWO Basic Safety Training, Basic Technical Training, Enhanced First Aid and Advanced Rescue
  • 126 guided learning hours, 182 hours Total Qualification Time.
  • Assessed by a portfolio of evidence generated by Centre devised assessment tasks, including observation of performance and written tasks.
  • Mentor support
  • Successful completion will result in the candidate gaining an ITC Level 3 Certificate in Safe Working Practice in the Wind Turbine Industry.
