This qualification has been designed to support an individual's entry into the teaching/training industry.  The qualification itself has been developed to meet the national Minimum Core Standards for Teacher Training Qualifications for the Further Education and Skills Sector and  is aimed at those that want to teach in a specialist area.  This could be conservation work  or other fields.  ITC specialises in the outdoor education sector.

 

Delivery 

Topics covered include roles and responsibilities, inclusive teaching, legislation, pedagogical principles, theories, principles and models of learning, communication and assessment.

Teaching, learning and assessment in a specialist area is also covered including developing specialist resources for use in delivery.

Studying this course will enable a learner to

  • plan and deliver sessions to groups of learners, 
  • plan a scheme of work in their specialist area;
  • develop resources in their specialist area;
  • develop their professional practice to a high level
  • produce assessment evidence at their own pace

 

Requirements

To undertake this qualification, delivery of a minimum of 100 hours of teaching practice is required, with observation of some of these sessions.  Access to groups of learners and real-life teaching practice is therefore required.
