This is a short course covering essential first aid knowledge and techniques for coaches, spectators and other involved people. This course content was developed to meet the first aid training needs of the team coach, volunteer, parent or interested sports person. ITC Centres offer a dynamic, standardised delivery that is very appropriate for the active sports arena context. The content includes essential basic life support and sport injury management.
The trainer/assessors delivering this course will typically have a professional background in sport, or be active practitioners in their own leisure time, with experience and commitment to working with groups in the sporting environment. Courses are delivered by Independent and local ITC Centres.
Topics include: roles & responsibilities, basic life support, injury assessment, recognition and treatment including cease/return to activity decisions, illness, venue risk assessment and accident reporting. The delivery methods are practical with continuous feedback from the tutor.
